Post Op Care

If you feel your animal may be experiencing difficulty after surgery, re-checks are available (and encouraged!). Please call the clinic at 608 -224-1400 to schedule an appointment. *Rechecks within 7 days of surgery are at no cost; rechecks beyond 7 days are just $10.  Additional medications, tests, etc will be an additional cost.

Please notify WCVC or your regular veterinarian if any of the following occurs:

  • Loss of appetite for more than two days.

  • Refusal to drink water for more than one day.

  • Depression, lethargy, weakness or pain

  • Vomiting after the first 24 hours following surgery.

  • Do not give your pet any over the counter pain

  • medicine. It is unsafe for use in many cases, but especially following surgery.

  • If you feel that your pet is still exceptionally painful after the 3 (three) days of take home medication is gone, please call the clinic.

Feral Cats

  • Must be kept confined at indoor temperatures (60 to 70 degrees F) for 48 hours before being re-released.

  • Be sure that they are eating and drinking before release.

Spay tattoo

Did you know....??

All surgery patients receive a small green tattoo to show they have already been spayed/neutered?  The purpose of this tattoo is to prevent unnecessary surgeries in the future.
